Immune Tolerated Stem Cell Technology MBTC-MSC-EXO™
The team has been working on harnessing the regenerative powers of stem cells by working on an innovative cultivation technique and unique stem cell line that would be regenerative and immune-tolerated. Thus came the development of MBTC-MSC-EXO™.
MBTC-MSC-EXO™ refers to the exosomes and ectosomes secreted by the patented stem cell line of mesenchymal stem cells. Here are some advantages of this technology as an investigational therapy:
1. Cell-free therapy
- Stem cell culture media does not include cells, all cells (live and dead cells as well as cell debris) are filtered out of the culture media using MCE MF-Millipore™). Use of cells directly in a human body is often associated with immune reactions due to the presence of a foreign cell body with different DNA.
2. Patented Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS)-Free Technology
- The current technology described in the patent does not entail the use of FBS, but rather a medium mainly consisting of over 30 plant extracts (SigGROW™).
- FBS is one of the industry-standard culture growth mediums. However, use of FBS is also associated with immune response and rejection due to the presence of bovine animal proteins and nucleic acids.
3. Immune tolerance
- Perhaps most significantly, the current technology enables the stem cells to continuously secrete and express Human Leukocyte Antigen-G gene (HLA-G) proteins. HLA-G plays a crucial role during pregnancy, where it is expressed on the fetal cells to evade maternal immune responses and ensure successful pregnancy.
- HLA-G exerts immunomodulatory effects. It inhibits the activation and function of various immune cells, including cytotoxic T cells, natural killer cells, and antigen-presenting cells.
- This suppression helps establish immune tolerance, prevents rejection of the fetus during pregnancy, and maintains immune homeostasis in certain pathological conditions.
4. Mass Production of Proteins and Extracellular Vesicles
- A separate patented technology describes the unique way that this research team has developed for producing an outstanding amount and variety of different proteins, cytokines, and growth factors within the stem cell culture medium.
5. Filtered and Tested
- There is no contamination with microorganisms and viruses in the stem cell culture media.
- The medium is cultured in a sterile environment, filtered (through MCE MF-Millipore™) and adventitious virus test and microbial residual tests are both performed in accordance with approved criteria in the ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
